Frequently Asked Questions

What types of issues do you work with?

I work with a wide variety of issues such as anxiety and stress, self-esteem, life changes, relationship difficulties and chronic illness.

I have also had additional training in the following:

Gender, sex and relationship diversity

Death and bereavement

Race and racism

Childhood sexual abuse

Domestic violence

How do I choose my therapist?

Your therapist should be registered with an appropriate governing body such as the BACP or UKCP and be committed to their ethical principles.

Look for someone who has experience with the issues you want help with.

It’s important to feel comfortable, safe and supported with your therapist - trust your instincts and choose someone that feels like a good fit for you.

Consider location, availability and fees - the more these work for you, the easier it is to commit to therapy and really get the most out of it.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

A tricky question! Ultimately this is for you to decide.

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and on what unfolds as we work together. Some clients benefit from short-term therapy over a few weeks or months while others may find longer term support helpful.

Therapy is flexible and the focus is always on what works best for you.

Is everything I say confidential?

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our work together and something I take very seriously. However, there are some legal requirements that every practitioner is required to abide by relating to safeguarding.

This is something I will explain in more detail in our initial consultation.

Do you have a waiting room?

Unfortunately I do not have a waiting room, so please don’t arrive early as I may be with another client and unable to answer the door.

What is your cancellation policy?

Because your session time is reserved for you and not available to others, if you are unable to attend you will be charged the full session cost.

If I cancel a session you will not be charged. Scheduled breaks such as holidays can be agreed in advance between us as appropriate.
